Nursery / Preschool

The nursery is our ministry to little ones created to support families at First Baptist. We want the nursery to reflect our desire to see the gospel grow in our community and show our commitment to support parents as they provide for the spiritual nurture of their children.

Our mission is for the nursery to provide a safe, loving, and fun environment for children from our church and community to learn God’s Word and experience His love. We do not view the nursery simply as childcare but also as an opportunity to offer a foundation in Jesus to even our youngest children. The goal of the nursery is to share the love of Christ as we welcome little children in His name.

Elementary School Children

We want our children’s ministry to reflect our desire to see the gospel grow in our community and show our commitment to support parents as the primary spiritual nurturers of their children.

Sunday School–9:30 am every Sunday

Age appropriate classes for children–K- 5th Grade

King’s Kids–Children’s Church option for Grades K-5 during our Morning Worship Service at 10:45 am on every Sunday except 5th Sundays. We encourage families to worship together on 5th Sundays.

AWANA Clubs– 6:00-8:00 Wednesdays during the School Year for 2 year olds-5th Grade

Youth (6th-12th grade)

Our desire is to develop sturdy students mature in the faith and integrated into the life of the church. We challenge our students to cultivate a personal relationship with Jesus and to grow in their understanding of what God has accomplished and is accomplishing in the world through the work of Christ. The result is lives that are consumed with Christ and serving Him. The youth gather on Sunday mornings at 9:30 during Sunday school and on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 to learn the Bible and consider how it changes how they think, love, and live. The youth also have the opportunity to participate in Disciple Now Weekends, mission projects, spiritually engaging and relationship-building events, and summer camps.

Adults

We provide Sunday school classes at 9:30 for all ages and all walks of life. Men and women also gather on Wednesday evenings for Bible study and prayer. Whether you are a brand new Christian or a mature believer, we have a place for you to learn and grow.

We offer additional times throughout the year to assist where there may be needs that we can meet, including: Financial Peace University (offered twice per year to help adults learn to break the cycle of paycheck-to-paycheck living), GriefShare (offered twice per year to support individuals who have lost someone), Surviving the Holidays (a one-time session offered in early November that provides people with the tools to navigate the holiday season).

Mercy Ministry

First Baptist Church seeks to follow the Scriptures as closely as possible in regard to extending mercy and care to those in need. The New Testament reveals how Jesus cared for the weak, poor, harassed, and helpless. In addition, the early church cared for those in need. Scripture explicitly commands the people of God to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, provide for the physical and material needs to those who lack, and ultimately to love—not just with our words—but also through our good deeds. The body of Christ should be marked by generosity, sacrifice, and intentional care for each member of her congregation.

  • Garment Rack—We have a clothing ministry for the community through which we try to show the love of Jesus Christ by meeting a practical need.
  • Food Pantry and Food Distribution—We partner with other local churches to feed those in need through Samaritian Ministries here in Baker County. We also schedule regular times during the year to distribute food to hundreds of people in our community.
  • First Coast Women’s Center—We partner with the local pregnancy center to show love and support to women who experience unplanned pregnancies.
  • School Supply Distribution–We hold a school supply distribution to meet the needs of our community once per year.

Missions

We seek to send small groups of our people on missions internationally to expand the impact of the Gospel and meet needs in those areas. Additionally, we partner with various individuals and organizations to fulfill the Great Commission of taking the Good News of Jesus to the ends of the earth.
